I hate my boyfriends parrot. I feel like I am actually going insane. I recently started working from home permanently and I can not focus on the work because the parrot won't stop screaming, yelling and making loud sounds. He had him before dating me so I have tried everything to accept the parrot. I have tried to train him for 2 years straight, given him a lot of attention, snacks and toys. He is also out a lot and he is rarely in his cage but more so now because he won't shut up so I HAVE to put him in his cage and cover it up with a blanket. I have watched several videos and tried my best to make him scream less, to make him shit in only certain places and so on but nothing fucking WORKS. I have trained other pets I have had throughout my life successfully but this parrot just won't try to learn ANYTHING. I am not dumb, a parrot is not a dog and I understand that it is their natural instict to make noises, but how the fuck can anyone be okay with that in a household? I don't understand why he would buy a fucking parrot to begin with! Parrots belong in the jungle, not in a home! The parrot tolerates me but he is definitely a one man bird and loves my boyfriend unconditionally even though my boyfriend pays him no attention since he is gone all day. I am the one changing his water, feeding him, entertaining him and cleaning his cage but I have just had enough. I have tried to place his cage in different places in our house but it does not matter where because I will always be able to hear him CLEARLY. When we wake up in the morning he hears our footsteeps and goes fucking nuts. He is screaming as if someone is torturing him!
What can I do?! I have also talked to my boyfriend several times and he says it would break his heart to get rid of him (even though he truly doesn't seem to fucking care about that parrot) and that there is not really any solution to this. I love my boyfriend and I don't want it to ruin our relationship but I am GOING CRAZY.
