My parents got her when she was 5 months old, I didn't ask for her but I tried to love her anyways. I spent a lot of time with her trying to do everything right. I got her good food, I groomed her, I petted her, I played with her everyday. Now she is 6 and doesn't give a shit about anybody. She only meows for only dry food (cannot get her to eat wet) or to get me to do something. She only occasionally likes being pet. She used to purr and knead when I pet her but now she only kind of likes it when she's sleepy. Other than that she tries to get away from me when I put my hand out. No I'm not an idiot who forces pets on her. I attempt to play with her and she just doesn't care. The feral cat that I feed outside just had a major turnaround after 3 years of me feeding her and she calls me over to the door for petting. I wish I could switch them. Family cat is a spoiled brat. What can I do? Is there anything I can do? My parents don't even like her for the same reason: she's not affectionate. I'm an adult now and they are leaving the cat stuff to me but I just want a different cat. There are so many cats out there that are friendlier than her. I tried everything to bond with her but she seems like a lost cause after so many years. There are so many more affectionate cats out there, I hate that we ended up with one that just stopped caring. I don't want to put her in a shelter when they get sick of her too but I have stopped wanting her as well.
