Should I adopt another cat?

I have a 13 year old declawed cat that I adopted 6 years ago. She is a very easy going, relaxed cat. Occasionally throughout the day she gets a burst of high energy and runs around, smacks cat toys and loves to play, but for the most part she's a huge fluffy lump. She's also very sweet and has never been mean to myself or others. She is pretty needy in terms of attention, and while she's usually okay while I'm at work she really dislikes when I stay the night somewhere. ESPECIALLY for more than one day.

So I've been considering another cat for a while, to keep each other company and play with each other. However I have been pretty picky about the type of cat I would consider, but there is one at my local shelter that seems pretty perfect.

She is an 11 year old, and also declawed (I dislike declawing but this was important to me since my current cat is, she lived with a clawed cat before and got pretty scratched up since that cat was aggressive) and based on the description it sounds like she has a similar temperament (gentle, sweet).

My concerns are mainly due to their age, would this be a good idea? I don't want to cause either kitty stress that wouldn't be good for them as seniors, and I've done research which all says adult cats are much harder to introduce. I've done a lot of research about how to properly introduce cats but am open to tips. I would dearly love having another kitty but am nervous about disrupting my current cat's life at her age, and would be heartbroken to being such an old sweet baby back to the shelter if it doesn't work out. I just want her to have another friend.
