I have a male cat that we rescued when he was three, he’s almost five years old now. We just recently moved into a new apartment and he seemed to be adjusting fine. During the time we were at the old apartment, we’ve noticed small poop ( about the size of a quarter, golden color with a bit of hair mixed in it, dry) around the apartment a few times, we thought he just kicked the poop out of the litter box on accident. It was only a few times, and it doesn’t smell, so we never minded it. Other than that, he’s never had a problem with using litter box.
He’s always sleeps with me at night on my bed that’s taller than a desk. But tonight when I was browsing YouTube until 4am and got up to drink water, I saw a small poop on my bed cover. He’s been asleep since we went to bed the whole time, only woke up once when I accidentally shined the phone light on him and fall asleep right afterwards. It seems like he has no idea he pooped, and I don’t think it was stuck to his medium hair because he’s been playing under my bed, on top of my dresser, before we went to sleep. When I put his face next to the poop ( bc that’s what my grandpa does when our pets do the dirty) he acted oblivious about the poop, and fall asleep again with the poop under his armpit 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I keep him hydrated by mixing half wet food half water, and he usually has that an hour before we go to bed. He’s been on instinct high protein diet ever since I got him. He does seem to eat less for the last couple months, about 1/3 cup of dry food a day, and 3oz of wet food, but he didn’t lose any weight.
Due to quarantine, I can’t bring him to a vet, and I also don’t think it’s too big of a deal as he’s only done this maybe 5 times, and it’s dry and doesn’t smell and easy clean up. But any suggestions about why he does this would be nice. Thank you!
Tldr: my cat pooped a small dry poop during his sleep and act oblivious about it, it might happened a few times before, but this is the first time I’m sure he pooped it where I found it
