I moved into a new apartment today, I have one cat.
To familiarize him I placed him into his litter box once when it was moved in, he immediately peed in it which I think is out of anxiety. Then over the past 5 hours he’s went into it twice looking like he’s about to use it then steps right out. I’m nervous that he’s too scared to use it and will end up peeing on the floor which will be a disaster because it’s all carpet.
The litter box is currently in the master bedroom closet with his tree and food and water. I don’t live in a loud area and it’s just me in the apartment. Not sure what I can do here? Has anyone ever experienced cats just randomly going inside the litter box but don’t end up using it? It didn’t look like he was straining either he was just sniffing.
