I could really need some advice on me and my boyfriend’s cat that has too much energy. My boyfriend got her when she was just a few months old due to his previous room mate who adopted her (she was found left alone in a box with no mother or siblings) because he thought she was cute and then he didn’t want her when she began to scratch him, whereafter my boyfriend adopted her shortly before he moved. She is close to 4 years now and is neutered and otherwise physically healthy.
The problem is that she is a cat with too much energy. She bites and scratches us, bites our feet, play with things she is not allowed to play with and she meows constantly when attention is not on her. I’m very scared of getting bitten by her at this point. We have bought her several toys, scratching posts and she has places where she can sit close to the ceiling as well as in all the windows in the house.
We first suspected that she might be bored. Both me and my boyfriend tried to play with her more. The problem is that with the many different toys we have tried, she sits still for a long time and watches and then she chases/plays with the toy for about two minutes only to continue sitting still and then lose focus/interest. When we stop playing with her after about 10 minutes of her either sitting still or her going elsewhere, she comes back after about 5 minutes and begin to bite/scratch whoever played with her as if she wants us to play more.
We both love this cat a lot! But I would still really appreciate advice as this is difficult for me. I have begun fearing her biting me and I constantly worry about her ruining important stuff. I know she is not an evil cat in any way and tha she doesn’t mean to hurt me/us.
