How do I best assimilate a friendly street cat into a house of 3 cats and 3 dogs?

This may sound like a lot at first but a street cat has visited my girlfriend's house now every single day for at least a month. He hangs out/sleeps in their front yard most of the day now.

He's slept in her room now a couple times, urinates in their litter box, and is extremely sweet, affectionate, and well behaved for the most part. He comes in the house all the time now under her guard and supervision.

The one obvious issue is that my girlfriend has 3 dogs and 3 cats that are all also very well behaved and sweet. The second the street cat and any of her current pets see each other they will growl, hiss, and attempt to fight each other. I know this all basically goes without saying.

This street cat has quickly become so special to my girlfriend, her family, and I and it's time to assimilate him into their home as a full time pet. The street cat is constantly waiting outside their door and has clearly made their house his home.

Does anyone have any best practices on how to best go about this? Do they let the fighting happen between the pets until it passes? Do they separate the pets initially?

Hoping for a smooth transition for her street cat! Thank you to anyone who is down to throw us any ideas!
