How to get my cat to stop jumping in front of me

Throwaway because I honestly feel embarrassed being so upset over such a cliche cat-like thing to do. I'm usually a pro at training cats, all three know their names, how to sit, come when called, 2 can sit up straight as opposed to just sitting, 1 can stay, one almost has "paw" or like, the cat version of shake down... so to be so PO'd over something so... stupid... UGH. Hear me out.

Every. Single. Night. One of our cats starts whining for dinner time by constantly jumping in front of us, for example from a chair to a table, back to the chair, table, jumping off our lap or chest sometimes, etc... it sounds comical, and looking at it when I'm not annoyed, it is, so feel free to laugh.

Problem is, right now I'm annoyed because I'm cleaning up yet another stain in the carpet from knocking something over from doing this... this time, a soda. Usually a drink, food, (cat friend) diffuser... when he doesnt knock it over, he throws his hair all over our food and drinks doing it.

The simple answer clearly is to just feed him. But all that's done is reinforce the behavior. Plus as anyone with a cat knows, it doesnt matter what time you feed them they will quickly adjust to the new time and start begging sooner. 7pm? Beg at 6. Start feeding at 6? Beg at 5. Feed at 5pm? Hungry and begging again by 10pm. I began to wonder if he's just hungry, so we upped his breakfast but he just wont finish it. We tried offering snacks after I get home from work, but it didnt really matter, he's just excited for dinner. (They get wet food with dinner and not other meals, I think that's it)

And, before anyone says it, free feeding is not an option due to our other cats. And I dont generally believe in positive or negative punishment, so I'm not willing to try the whole spray bottle schtick yet... unless everyone here says it's my only option I guess, lol
