I am keen to get a kitten and would really like some sensible advice on whether this is a good decision

I am very keen to rescue two kittens I have found, we have been looking for a cat for a number of years but we are however in an apartment. I am now in late 20s and in the next few years may start to think about having a baby.. if I get two kittens now Is this a bad idea and timing for us?

I also have some allergies to some cats, some more than others and was planning to feed anti allergen food however if I am lucky enough to fall pregnant are my children at further risk of allergies and therefore again is this a sensible life decision?

I am really keen to hear other people’s views because I am so aware of what a big choice this is! I work in the veterinary sector so am aware of all the pros and cons but have never myself owned a cat so am extremely keen to hear any different points of view or experiences?
