Can my cat thrive being the only cat?
I got a 8 month old sweet female cat 3 weeks ago. She is partly ragdoll. She is also neutered.
I notice she has a lot of energy and wants to play all the time. I live alone and I’m gone 8 hours a day for work. I feel bad sometimes and wonder if she is bored because I can’t play with her all day. How often should I play with her ideally? I think I spend 1 hour each day.
She has a big scratching post and all the toys you could think of. I also try to mentally stimulate her like hiding food so she can find it and use clicker training.
However I don’t want two cats, and I don’t think my landlord will like it either..
She sometimes meows (just 3-5 meows) like she is calling for someone.
I really just want her to be happy and I have thought if she might be more happy with a playmate in a new home, but I really love her and I would feel sad to give her up, and get an older cat.
Can young cats thrive being alone if you give them a lot of attention and love when you’re home?
Edit: the old owner told me that she likes other cats and wants to play with them. She is always curious about them.
