My cat becomes distant since a kitten was introduced. What can I do?

Hi all, I adopted a 2 yo cat [ Tabby, a neutered female ] 6 months ago, and I was told by the RSCPA that she was flu-waived. Tabby was very sweet and would jump onto the bed and slept inside my arms circle when I was gaming and laying her head by my side while I was reading. She also followed me around the apartment and wouldn't stop licking me lol. A week later my gf and I introduced a 6 months old kitten [ Ninja, a neutered male ], thought it would be a good companion for Tabby when we are at work and outside. Ninja is a very timid cat by nature, the first day he arrived at our apartment, he immediately seeking for places to hide. Meanwhile, Tabby seemed very excited and kept grabbing Ninja's attention by jumping over and walked around him. Now they become friends, lick each other every evening and play together. However, it seems there is still room for their relationship to improve; they occasionally played too roughly and it is always Tabby ceased the play and walked away as Ninja bites too hard. Ninja is kinda overly-attached to me and my gf as he loves to sleep on our laps and besides my head. It is also very obvious that he keeps Tabby away from every new toy and cat trees we gave them, e.g. this morning he pushed Tabby off the cat tree again and ate her food. I don't know why Tabby became so aloof after the first day of Ninja arrived. Tabby no longer jumps onto the bed with me (she doesn't even come onto the bed). She still tries to say hello to me by a short meow sound and licking my hand, but there is a significant change of behaviour towards me since that day. What do you think happened there and is there anything I could make her happy? Cheers
