I have been fostering a kitten from a cat sanctuary for a while now and nobody has been interested in adopting him. He’s about 7 months old now. We decided maybe we should just adopt him since not many have shown interest in him, we do love him. However I need some opinions and advice. (I’ve never used reddit before so hopefully is works out) he to no fault of his own has a ton of energy and becomes bored easily therefore getting very destructive to our apartment and furniture. We are super worried if we keep him for much longer he will cause issues with our apartment complex we’re renting from etc. I know it’s not right or fair to declaw a cat and I’ve never once had to before but he’s much different than my past pets and much more destructive with his claws. We would only do the front two. The other option would be to take him back to the sanctuary, where he’d be free to run around in an indoor barn like area with other cat friends and no cages... the cats there seem very happy. I guess my question is, would it be better for this cat to stay in our home with loving humans to care for him and lots of attention but have to declaw his front two feet OR would it be better to take him back to the sanctuary and have him live the rest of his life out there. I genuinely can’t decide what’s right and I’ve put a ton of thought into this because I care, I don’t want him to feel abandoned there but I also don’t want to declaw. Any opinions and advice is welcome, please share which option you think would lead to a better life for him.
