I've got two kittens, brother and sister. The sister is happy to play whilst the brother is asleep on her own in the mornings. If I throw a toy, She'll run around playing with it for half an hour and will encourage me once in a while to play again. The brother on other hand wants to play a lot later in the day around 8pm. When he does it only will play if I'm using the feather wand or laser and will go mad for it but will generally stop play if I stop, during this the sister will generally be the more submissive player and let the brother play. On top of this sometimes they'll both play fight or chase each other around the house
I'm not only worried but just noticed the very different play styles and wasn't sure if I could encourage the brother to play on his own more? He generally seems more "needy" as he will meow a lot when he wants food/play/out of the house (they are in-door cats). (The sister is mute btw.)
Lastly, I have been considering to let them out and have for little test trips but I don't have a garden for them to be let out into and I'm in a first floor flat. The area it's a housing estate and a road nearby 10 seconds walk from the door. There is however a number of cats in the area so it should probably be fine just a thought that the brother may quite enjoy outdoor life.
Any advice for a cat dad? I've tried playing before food times but they aren't generally interested then..
