My beloved cat is 18, and has been deaf for years. In the last 6 months, she has gone blind and I suspect also senile. She is getting steadily worse at navigating the house and it's clearly distressing her more and more. We're in a heatwave and I suspect this is contributing to the especially bad time she has been having.
I've just ordered a 4'x4' pen to make her world significantly smaller, while still keeping her near her humans so she can smell us and get lots of attention. The only closed off rooms are too hot right now, and she'd be all alone most of the time.
I hate the idea of keeping her in a cage, but this seems like the lesser of evils right now. What do you think, and is there anything else I can do for her?
Note: she has a vet appointment next week and quality of life will be on my agenda.. :(
