I have a flea infestation right now and I think my cats are the source of it. It all started three days ago when I got my first bite, and then my second, and then my third. I have probably over a dozen bites now (all over my elbows, legs, and ankles). It seems like the fleas are biting in batches and I can't pin down exactly where in the house I'm getting bitten.
I've tried vacuuming several times, spraying diluted cedar oil on my furniture and carpet, and washing my sheets and any fabric touching the floor twice. I bathed my dog and gave her flea and tick preventative shampoo and I thought I got them all, but then noticed more bites on my feet. I'm sick of this and it's stressing me out. I don't want to be bitten anymore.
I've been looking at cat flea shampoo online and they have mixed reviews, many people saying the shampoo has essential oils that hurt the cat, it doesn't work, and a few people saying the shampoo killed their cats!
I don't know what to use anymore. It seems like everything is dangerous to cats. The flea neck drops I bought made my cats salivate and foam at the mouth while running around terrified. (Thanks Pyrethrin. Apparently you're poisonous to cats), and the flea collars I bought for both the dog and cats are apparently useless.
Does anyone have cat-safe, effective treatments or product recommendations that you can offer me? Please save my sanity and my body further misery!
