I know I need to wait until I speak again with the vets in a few days, but I just want to have a little peace of mind.
Lulu is 8 years old and just had her exam done to get her teeth cleaned. The vet informed me this evening her glucose levels are consistent with diabetes. I understand diabetes is very treatable and she will be able to live a normal life, but I just have so many things that I’m wondering about.
-I work long days.. some times up to 10 or 12 hours. Will this be a problem in regards to administering her insulin? -Is it wrong to take trips? How do people manage this while they are away? -Is it possible that she might not need insulin forever? -Lulu is overweight, I’ve been working on getting her weight down for some time but now I’m really being more diligent. Can weight loss help with this?
I would love to hear from people who have cats with diabetes. I’m so happy we caught it early before any symptoms showed, but now I’m feeling overwhelmed.
