Kitty peeing on rugs and floor after urinary infection

So our cat started peeing on rugs and on the floor some weeks ago and we immediately took her to the vet. Our fear was kidney stones or urinary infection, that she was associating peeing and pain with the litter box.

We were right and she took medication and was properly treated.

BUT the nasty one just doesn't bother to pee in the box anymore after that. We bought a second bigger litter box, cheered when she used it, and gave her treats everytime we saw her using it. Still, if we leave rugs in the bathroom she favors it, and even worse: she visits the neighbours and pees on their rugs too.

At home she is kind of behaving, she pees in her box if it is placed right in front of the kitchen door, if it is not, she pees on the wooden floor...

I would really appreciate some tips on how to get her back to peeing inside her litter box and leave rugs and floor alone! I love her to bits but I'm so tired of cleaning it.
