If you are looking to get a bird or have one and are confused about them, then I suggest reading this. I always like to take her out of her cage for 2-3 hours a day for her to get out and have lots of room to fly around. When I take her out of the cage I will put her on the floor in front of my full body mirror. Mine leans against the wall and touches the floor so she can see herself. If you have one that doesn’t touch the floor then I suggest getting a stool that they are comfortable standing on. My bird likes metal stools. I suggest having a cage that is at least 30 inches (76.2 cm) tall for a parakeet, finch, or conure and at least a 45 in (114.3 cm) if it’s a parrot, macaw, or cockatoo. If it’s a cockatiel then you should maybe do somewhere in the middle. I have a few perches my feeders hang onto the walls because she hates the bottom. I also have a small mirror next to a perch so she can see herself. Underneath that is a paper towel because she is ALWAYS in that spot meaning there is always a MOUNTAIN of poop under it. I suggest cutting their nails twice a year. If they are small like a parakeet, finch, conure (or cockatiel) then you can use HUMAN nail clippers. If they are larger like a macaw, parrot, or cockatoo then use human toe clipper. Also you can file all of their nails (except for finch or parakeet) to expand the time between when you need to cut their nails. I cut my parakeets by holding her and flipping her upside down to make SMALL cuts. I don’t know how to do big birds but if you have trouble you can get them done by a professional. I hope you found this helpful :) [link] [comments]
