Hey all! I’m looking for some advice on how to deal with a destructive habit in my 5 month old kitten (indoor cat). When I open the glass door that goes out to my balcony, he likes to stretch his body up and sticks his claws into the screen. He’s not scratching, I suspect he wants outside.
Neither of my other two cats do this and I’m at a loss as to how to curb the habit. He’s not afraid of water. The compressed air that I have doesn’t even make him flinch, and just causes confusion in my other two cats as they think they’ve done something wrong.
I’ve tried distracting him with a crinkle toy every time he is about to do it, but he’ll just go right back to the screen as soon as he’s not distracted. The only other thing that I just did was moved the cat tree to beside the screen in hopes that will be enough. I only did that last night so I haven’t tested it out yet.
Any and all advice is appreciated!
