For context, my partner works full time, which I had never done before and generally have had a lot of time to spend at home with our cat (1.5 year old tuxedo) and our dog (6 year old cavalier). In the past I had worked casually, with long shifts only being maybe 2-3 times per week. Today I was made an offer to begin a full time position with a new company which I am over the moon about, however this joy has now turned to a bit of anxiety thinking of how our pets will now go at home by themselves while my partner and I are working full time.
I guess I am wondering if anyone has experienced something similar, and can offer any word on how this situation will go for our animals. They will be together, so I am hoping that means that they will not get lonely. I do have a neighbour who should be able to check on them when I need, but I don't know whether she would be able to do that every single day as she is a new mother and I don't want to cause her stress. Pet sitters are also not an option as we live approximately 25 minutes out of town and our pets are also not comfortable with brand new people who they don't know entering our home.
Will our pets be okay? Any advice on how to make this transition easier for them would also be greatly appreciated.
