We just adopted him last Friday and he is very sweet and playful and loves to snuggle. He would be absolutely perfect if not for the insane fits of scream meowing when he is out in the living room. I wouldn't mind this as much if we lived in a house but we live in an apartment and he runs over to the front door and makes these god awful sounds until I pick him up and put him back in the bedroom. I know some kittens can be overwhelmed and scared being in a new home and usually need a transitional period of staying in a small room for a week or so to adjust, which is what we have set up currently, with his food, litter, and toys all in the bedroom for the time being. But he's going to need to spend time on his own during the day when I start my new job, and I don't want to leave him locked in a bedroom the whole time as that seems cruel.
I have had around 8 kittens in my life that I've "raised" into adulthood, and none of them have ever done this so I'm not really sure what to do other than just try and ignore the meowing and hope he gets used to being here eventually. I guess I'm just hoping someone will tell me this is normal and he will stop soon.
