[Advice] Afraid if my birds aren't happy/content

Hey everyone,

Not sure if this is the right subreddit for this question but...

My fiance loves birds and we started out with a Senegal Parrot, maybe not the easiest of birds, but we can tell she's happy around us, loves to cuddle, we do everything to keep 'er healthy and she's always out of her cage unless she has to get some sleep.

Fast forward a few years later, we came in a situation where we OR adopt two lovebirds, OR they would be seperated and handed out solo. Knowing Lovebirds, we couldnt let that happen and we took them in, without any knowledge where they came from etc.

They're with us for almost a year now, and I really wonder if they are happy, or enjoying themselves.
Their wings have been clipped WAY too far and they're still not fully grown after a year (but they are showing progress though!) and they're extremely 'scared' towards people, where they tend to yeet themselves off of their cage when we would even walk past the cage a little too fast.

We did bought them a large enough cage to hop around in, to have enough toys and whatnot, and the "roof" of the cage is always opened, so they can sit outside of it as well, giving them all the freedom they want.

But what I notice is they mostly just sit on their cage, side to side, chirping, running around on the cage itself etc.
I also notice our Senegal sometimes reacting to the Lovebirds and other way around.

Is there any way I can see if the Lovebirds are happy and what could I do to make it more enjoyable for them since they don't like human contact all that much?
