I just adopted a 6yr old cat from a woman with a ton of cats, all had been caged their entire life. I am a college student with nice furniture, rugs, nice house etc. and while I want to bring the cat out of her cage and let it roam the house I am afraid she won’t use the litter box, and that I’ll be forced to return her to the previous owner because I can’t afford new stuff... I just need advice on what to do in this situation because she’s litter trained but only because she’s never left the cage and hasn’t had a choice...
Also the first time I took her out of the cage and let her walk around she seemed completely freaked out and just wanted back in her cage and I don’t know how to break the habit without taking away her only “safe space”. She likes to lay in her litter box
