Hi,
I’ve been having some cat issues. Our household consists of 4 dogs and 2 cats. The dogs leave the cats alone, for the most part (a couple of sniffs is the most they really interact aside from the following).
One of the cats, however, just insists on approaching the dogs and giving them a whack on the face— without claws. This pisses off the dogs and causes them to chase after the cat that did it. The cats do the whole “Halloween cat” thing when the dogs approach them, hissing when they’re super close. And the dogs are perfectly happy leaving them alone. So, why does the cat INSIST on approaching the dogs when they’re chilling and giving it a whack on the face?
The resident dogs are Coton de Tulears and the new cats are Turkish Angoras. Is there any advice that can be offered for this? We don’t want to rehome our cats, and our house is pretty big (9,000 sq ft). Is there a reason for the cat wanting to hit the dogs, despite being scared of them in all other scenarios? Could this be a territorial dispute?
