Good day! I would like to know if someone here knows if a foreign national can be a consignee for informal entry? Our cat is arriving on SUNDAY (01/24) at LAX but my husband will have a 24hr duty on sunday and will not be able to pick up & do the customs release.
I already talked to the freight forwarder/airlines, they can release the documents & the cat to me but they are not sure if customs cargo will allow me to process the customs release.
Me: Foreign national with a pending I-485 (adjustment of status) application. No SSN or ITIN but with US govt issued Id (military dependent).
TLDR: can i be the consignee or can i pick up & process in behalf of my husband?
PS. We’re trying to call CBP Cargo LAX for the last few days but no one is answering their hotline. Thank you!
