Help! 4 month old kitten driving me insane

So I got a 4 month old kitten for christmas from my family, which in itself is a beautiful and thoughtful gift. I live on my own and work from home, I'd been feeling pretty lonely and in a bit of a depressed state, so they thought some companionship would be nice and surprised me for christmas.

The thing is, my work requires me to be up at the crack of dawn. I need to be in front of my computer and pretty much fully focused and ready to work. I'm also in school and studying takes up a lot of my time after work. And as you guys can probably imagine, adding a kitten to the equation and attempting to do this from home has been pretty difficult. I regularly do the whole play, then feed thing... but my kitten has tremendous amounts of energy. I've bought him a cat tree and multiple toys and they do keep him distracted, but the bursts of energy and random zoomies makes it impossible for me to focus. I'm suffering not just with work, but with school as well :/ I pretty much let him roam about my apartment while I attempt to work and study, he has tons of toys, a few electronic ones that'll keep him busy and I always play with him before feeding (I don't free feed him per jackson galaxys advice hahaha). But again, it's just impossible to focus in such a small apartment when he gets bursts of energy. I also have to constantly keep an eye out to make sure he doesnt get into any trouble (he loves to play with electrical cords, my dumbbell set, etc.) so I dont feel as if I'm ever fully present in what I'm doing.

I have thought of waking up to work, and maybe putting him in a seperate room with his toys, access to his litter box, etc. or putting him in there when I need to focus on school or work out, but it just seems a bit cruel. Sigh. I'd also hate to have to get rid of him, because I do love the companionship. How could I make this work? I've watched tons of jackson galaxy vids and I deff try and play with him as much as possible, but I fear that its only going to get worse.
