Before the story starts i have four adopted cats. I mean i adopted my first cat from the street and as he grew older my cat adopted 3 other cats which isnt a big a deal for me. They just stay outside our house but inside our lot because my mom wont allow to have cats inside our house. Three years ago i almost ran over my eldest cat as i was backing up the car and in the process broke his hind leg. I didnt get to check the rear wheel because at first i didnt know that cats tend to chill on car wheels.. Of course i was scared and guilty at the same time. At first I panicked because i didnt know what to do. I brought him to the vet a day or two later. And after a month he recovered. Since then i usually check the rear wheels to see if my cats are chilling on the wheel or behind the car. And if i see my cats chilling on the wheels even if the car is not turned on i would try to make them get out.
So last night, i happened to almost run over a cat again because i didnt get to check the wheels. And it turned out it was not our cat. It was a stray kitten. I think it was just wandering around our village or maybe someone threw a kitten away idk. Right now im really guilty because i could have avoided it. I forgot to check the rear wheels that night before i backed the car up.. i put the kitten into a cage so that it wouldnt move around much and to avoid more injuries. I was about to bring the kitten to the vet later that day but i decided to not bring him to the vet because i knew he was not gonna make it. His breaths were short and he wasnt moving around so i accompanied him most of the time as he was struggling to breathe. the kitten died few hours after. i really hate myself for forgetting to check the wheels. I just cant stop thinking the cat’s cries. I just dont know what to do knowing since this was my second time almost running over a cat. I also dont know if accompanying the kitten before he leaves this earth was the right thing to do. Or Maybe i could have also avoided it by bringing him to the vet. I really hate myself right now.
