Hello.
I have a 7 year old adult female cat that is spayed. I've had her since she was a kitten and she has always been super playful and naughty from the first day we got her till this very day, though her version of 'playing' can tend to be a bit aggressive (eg biting or taking claws out when playing). She just doesn't know the boundaries when it comes to playing. I wouldn't label her as aggressive since she is very cuddly, she lets me carry her, pet her, we sleep together, sometimes she kneads etc.
So the issue here is that my cat has never been friendly with other cats despite living with her cat sisters/brothers and parents for a couple of months when she was a kitten. She is very aggressive with other cats including kittens but at the same time she sometimes gets scared of them and stares at them from a distance before deciding to go near them and attack them. She usually scratches them with one of her paw, doesn't pounce on them and full on attack yet thankfully.
There's this stray kitten I fed for a couple of months. My cat has seen this kitten, attacked this kitten, and even sniffed the kitten's butt. This kitten is the opposite of my cat, the kitten doesn't attack at all and doesn't even respond much to my cat's madness. She's very sweet and loving. I know the kitten would easily warm up to my cat if given the chance.
This wasn't really an issue at the start since the kitten was a stray and wasn't usually in my house, but now I'm most likely going to adopt the kitten. I want my cat to stop being aggressive towards the kitten and to at least ignore the kitten's presence at home if being friendly is not possible for my cat. I heard about the protocol for cat to cat introduction and I'd like to follow it but I'm afraid that it may not work on my cat since she's already been around this kitten before and knows who it is.
The kitten is at the vet right now and I'll adopt after a while so I'd like to know any tips that would help my cat warm up to the kitten.
