my almost 2 year old male cat is obsessed with playtime. ive bought him dozens of different kinds of toys, he used to be fine to play on his own but now if i'm around he wont play with his toys unless i use them and move them around for him. he meows, scratches furniture, and throws a fit if i try to relax for even a few minutes, and he won't settle until i go grab a toy. i only work a few hours a day so its not like he's spending all day laying around. plus, i keep his toys in a basket and when i come home, they are all taken out and sprawled across the room like he's been playing while i'm gone. so i know he's capable of playing alone, he just refuses to when i'm home!! i've had tons of people say "get a second cat!" but i can't because he is VERY aggressive towards other cats! and its not even territorial, its more like he sees them as prey. he doesn't growl or hiss, he just stalks, pounces, and tries to rip the other cat to shreds. i used to have a roommate with another cat and we spent months trying to bond them but i ended up having to move out because my cat was so cruel to the other. this leads me to think my boy has a very strong prey drive and thats why he's always wanting to play, but i just can't keep up with his needs! its frustrating, i try to give him as much attention as possible but he never seems satisfied. it makes playtime feel like a chore rather than a bonding experience for me, and i don't want to feel that way. does anyone have advice???
