The title pretty much says it, but to elaborate:
My wife and I adopted him at about 7.5 years old, he's about 11 now. Shih Tzu mix. Very well behaved, awesome with our toddler. The last month or so he's been having a ton of accidents in the house. Like pretty much daily. He was always very good about getting our attention and then walking to the door and waiting to go outside. (Due to his past trauma, he won't go outside without being on a leash.) but lately he's not even trying to get to the door. My wife is taking him out like 4 times a day now since she's working from home temporarily, and I take him out when I get home from work and then Austin before bed. Even still, he will just pee or poop pretty much just wherever he is in the house. Even if we are right in front of him. I'm assuming he's losing control of his bladder and such. Is this the beginning of the end for him? It's so frustrating to have to clean up after him almost daily now, but the thought of losing him breaks my heart.. my son is absolutely in love with the dog, and, at 2 years old, I know it won't fully register with him when the dog is gone, but I'm sad they he won't have his afternoon walk buddy anymore.. I've got a vet appointment set for next week, so we'll see what they say. Just wanted to get some advice from you fine folks too. Thanks!
