4 months ago, I was looking for a pet and my roommate had a friend who found a stray kitten. We gladly took the kitten in. I was under the impression it was my cat, but they said it was the "houses cat"
My roommate took him to one vet bill. Paid in cash and under a name he currently has. Since then she has never paid for a single thing, never changed the litter box etc.
My girlfriend and i had a feeling this was going to be an issue so we had my girlfriend's name for his vet bills, all his food, litter box etc. We also have him microchipped in her name and the collar has her phone number on it.
Well last night we told her that we would like to move out at the end of the month when the lease was up and it was a huge fight. She said she is taking the cat and when we told her that she doesn't legally own him, she tried to run out of the house with him. Luckily I got him back.
We have moved the cat to a safe place a long with our other animals and she came home to get stuff and left. She sent us a message stating she is going to take legal/police actions to get the cat and that he is hers.
I am looking at what solutions we can get to(talking to her isn't one of them) and if we were legally allowed to move him to another location. Any help is greatly appreciated.
