I have a male cat that is right around the 6 month mark, that I've had since he was 12 weeks. I don't think this is a serious issue or anything cause he's been like this as long as I've had him, but he always makes little breathing noises, almost like he's having a little trouble.
But he's never seemed off in terms of behavior. I have one of his littermates as well (but he doesn't make the same noises), and they're equally playful and inquisitive, so I'm mostly just wondering if there's a reason for it.
His breathing is just very audible, and he make soft noises every once in a while, probably the most "under your breath" noise I've heard a cat make.
He's been to the vet several times, for shots, an overnight stay when he was sick once (we don't know what it was, but he got lethargic and didn't eat, vet wasn't sure what it was either but he perked up after fluids), and most recently to get neutered. It's never been pointed out as a serious issue, so as I said I'm sure it's fine.
But does anyone have any idea about this? Can kitties have asthma or something? He's young, healthy, happy, active, and not overweight, so it makes me curious.
