I live in an apartment complex in ohio, my girlfriend and I found a dog in the cold snowy weather after we got home.
I've had the dog for about 4-5 days now and my girlfriend found a note on the community laundry room door today. I contacted the owner and such. However, this dog has no tags, no microchip and has not been spayed.
The dog is definitely a puppy and was left outside in the cold for 30+ minutes. I have bought food, a better leash and harness for this dog.
I've also bought toys and treats. I mainly have two questions, can I get the owner in trouble for neglecting her dog and can I get reimbursed for taking care of their dog?
I know they said on the phone that the dog usually comes back when she's outside. Our apartment doesn't allow dogs not on leashes by the way.
I'm unsure what to do here. The dog's nails were long as hell and her collar looked really old.
