I have been thinking about going to my grandma’s for regular visits every few weeks or so. I’d probably sleep over and stay one or two days each time. The thing is that I have a 3 month old kitten who has separation anxiety since it’s just me and her in the apartment. She meows even when I go outside for a few minutes only.
I have had her over my grandmas before twice actually so she is familiar with the environment by now. The first time it was for Christmas for 3 days. And then I went over for a week recently. For those of you with health concerns, I have the antibodies and get covid tested every week even if I don’t have work and my grandma just got the first round of the vaccine.
But my grandma is by her self in her apartment and has been the whole time. Before covid she used to go to a senior center so it wasn’t that bad but now she obviously can’t and no one else in my family really visits her even before covid. Even though my uncles family is actually closer to her in proximity. I noticed that she also really enjoys playing with my kitten.
So I’m wondering if I should bring my kitten with me and visit my grandma when I have free time from work. The drive is about 30-60 min depending on traffic and the route I take. She’s never thrilled about car rides but she doesn’t cry or make a huge fuss. She eventually settles down and sleeps. She does have more reluctance to go into her carrier though. She likes my grandma a lot. And the last time I brought her to my grandmas place she didn’t hesitate to get comfortable again.
My biggest worry I guess would be that the frequent travel would stress her out too much. I also wonder if the switching between locations would also bring stress. She didn’t seem to have any reservations at all the last time we went to grandmas but maybe it could still be a factor?
