Cat hisses when I'm giving him food or treats

Like the title says, my new cat hisses at me when I'm giving him any type of food. He's a 6 month old kitten that we rescued from a shelter. He's been with us for 1 and a half months now. There's two situations where this happens:

1) I'm getting him treats. I'll pick up the treat container and he runs over all happily as he loves treats. I'll crouch down slowly to put some on the floor and he recoils a bit, and will hiss when the treats hit the ground. He will claw at the treats to pull them to him rather than approach and eat them off the floor in front of me.

2) I'm giving him food. I give him wet food and he seems to like all of it. I will put some food on a plate and set the plate down in the designated eating area, and he won't approach it until I leave. If he's close to the area when I'm preparing the food, he'll hiss at me as I'm doing so.

We have two other cats as well. All 3 cats eat peacefully together and even share treats pretty well with no aggression, so the aggression seems to be solely directed at us humans. Outside of food, he never really hisses at us and loves to play with us and the other cats. He's still not 100% on us approaching him to pet him, even while crouching down, but when he is sleepy he will let us pet him all over and he purrs really loudly and seems to like it.

Anyone have any ideas on how to approach this food related aggression?
