Hello everyone!
Buying a pet has been on my mind for many years and I'm feeling more and more like it's a step I'm ready to take; however... I'm having some real difficulty deciding on something that will be right for me.
- I love dogs, but I think that will be a bit much for me to restart with (not to mention landlord doesn't allow this type of pet).
- I sadly have allergies to cats, so that's also not an option right now (and again, not an option with current living situation).
- I feel like this brings me to the options of rodents, reptiles, fish, etc. and I'd like opinions on good options for someone who hasn't had a pet in a long time! Ideally it would be something that could offer some amount of contact/companionship, but I've also been frequenting r/Aquariums and don't hate the idea of a thoughtfully constructed aquascape to bring some peace and fun to a room in my home.
- It would be nice to keep startup prices on the lower end that I can build on overtime--I've put a lot of thought into this and it's certainly something I'm interested in pursuing long-term.
- I love to do research, so feel free to be as simple or descriptive in your recommendation as you like.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences!
