My cat is pretty old and she had surgery to remove some teeth a couple days ago. She has a medical condition that causes tooth decay and loss.
She hates wet food. I have tried so many different brands from the cheap stuff to the good stuff. She has never wanted to touch the stuff since I got her when she was about a year old. My other cats like it, so I feed it to them once a day and she is never interested.
My vet advised me to boil chicken for her, so I did that, just in plain water because vet and online sites recommended that. She was not interested. The only thing I have been able to get her to eat in the last day and a half is her regular dry food in water with probiotic powder, then she only drinks the water, not the kibble. She is drinking regular water too. She is hungry because she meows for food.
Anytime she drinks or I give her medicine, she starts chomping, rubbing her mouth, drooling, and you can heard her teeth grinding. She did this for a couple days before the surgery too. I’m worried she’s going to hurt herself more.
I told the vet all of this, but they did not have any advice other than keep giving her meds and trying to get her to eat.
What else should I try with her to get some nutrition?
