How do I take care of a baby bird?

Hello all! About 2 days ago I was walking to the store and found a baby bird on the ground, I looked at the nearby tree for a nest and didn't find anything. The neighbour told me the bird was probably going to die and there's no use caring for it.

Now there are lots of cats in my streets so I decided to take it home to die rather than letting cats get to it. But to my surprise after trying to feed it (a recipe I found on youtube because it's so small and can't eat hard food I guess.) it was very much alive. Flapping its wings, chirping, and moving around a lot.

Night comes and I wake up every 2 hours to check on the bird. Morning comes and it's still alive. Another day and it's still alive. I bought baby bird formula to feed it but I have no idea how to take care of it. There's no bird sanctuary near me so I'm all on my own.

I was told by the pet store owner to feed it 1-2ml every 2 hours except at night. And it's currently in a shoebox with lots of tissue paper, a bit of wood shavings, and a small blanket. I placed it under a lamp but covered the top of the box with a light layer of tissues (leaving some space uncovered for fresh air) because I read it can hurt their eyes.

I was told this bird could either be a rock pigeon or ringneck dove but from pictures I've seen online it looks like a dove. I'm also cleaning it's box every time I feed it. I'm 16 and have no idea what I'm doing, I've tried doing research online but I'm just hoping that I'm doing it right.

If anyone has any advice please do share, any help is appreciated as I really do not want this bird to die. I also plan on releasing it but I'm not sure if that's a good idea since it's being hand-reared. How can I get it ready for release?
