I got my dog from the SPCA 5 years ago. (Black lab/rottie mix, 105 pounds named Walter White ). He was surrendered twice for women not listening to him. I’m a strong, leader of the pack woman who wasn’t afraid. Within a week, he listened to me without question. After one month, I rescued a border collie (Jesse Pinkman). Instant bonding between the two, couldn’t be separated. Except Walt had asset aggression issues...food, water, etc. After him hurting Jesse multiple times, I got him to stop within 6 months. Not so safe for other dogs. I can’t count the number of other dogs he has hurt. Took him to a behaviorist, and was told there was nothing we could do since he gives no warning, at all. We’ve watched. I think the SPCA wasn’t honest with me about his problems, as he was the only dog alone in a cage. Fast forward 3 years. In December he snapped at my nephew with no warning, and has hurt Jesse 3 times in 3 months. Pierced his lip last time. I can’t live with his unpredictability . I have a final vet appointment to make sure there is nothing physically wrong, even though he’s always been this way and had regular checkups. He is a giant, lovable bear, 98% of the time, but that 2% is unpredictable. If I had children in the house, I wouldn’t trust him. He has a strong prey instinct, kills anything that comes near...squirrels, lizards, frogs, possum, anything. Tries to attack kids wearing beanies or holding stuffed animals or dolls. AITA for thinking he can’t be saved and Wednesday is his last day? Been spoiled with Steak, car rides, and walks in case.
