Brought my male cat (2 yrs old) to the vet last December because of urethral obstruction. He had crystals inside that's why he couldn't pee so the doctor had to use a catheter to flush out everything inside. After 3 days, he was discharged. The doctor suggested it may have something to do with his food so we changed it to wet/canned food and urinary kibble.
Two months after, the same thing happened. We brought him to the vet again and he was confined for 2 days. After using a catheter, he was able to pee again. Doctor suggested the same thing and to increase water intake. Been observing him for 2 days (since he was discharged) and I noticed that there's still a lot of excess grooming on his genital. He slept on the first day of his discharge but on the second day, he's been sleeping for a few minutes only to wake up, change his position and groom his genital (over a few times). I'm just concerned because he usually sleeps during the day. He might still be adjusting though but at the same time, I didn't see this behavior after the first time he was confined.
Can anyone suggest something? Anyone who dealt with the same thing? Is there anything I should be concerned about? Comments are very much appreciated!
