Mom's dog may not make it through the night

Hello r/pets,

First time posting here, but this seems like the right place to ask for some advice. My mom's golden doodle Finn was born with a disorder called Megaesophagus, meaning he was born with an enlarged esophagus. This has resulted in four years of challenges, including difficulty swallowing food and water, and lately, occurrences of aspiration pneumonia. In spite of these issues, he is the sweetest and happiest pup you'd ever meet.

Two nights ago, Finn suddenly experienced a cluster of grand mal seizures. He was brought to the animal hospital immediately. Unfortunately, perhaps due to complications caused by the seizures, his pneumonia has become very severe, and his O2 levels have dropped significantly. He is currently in an O2 chamber fighting for his puppy life.

While this is all incredibly sad, my larger worry is for my poor mom. Finn is her best friend, and absolute closest companion. To say that she is a complete wreck would be an understatement. So this brings me here to you all. Based on personal experience, would any of you please offer me some advice on how to console my mom during this time? What has helped you or your friends/loved ones to cope with the suffering and/or death of their pet?

I understand that this is an incredibly sensitive subject, so thank you in advance to those of you will to share some personal experience and/or advice
