So I have a one year old cat that is basically a golden retriever. He loves walks outside, is totally fine in his carrier for car rides, loves meeting new people. I will be flying cross country (5-6hr flight) to see my family for a week and wondering if anyone has experience bringing their cat along. My cat is very attached to me and I worry about leaving him home alone with a few check ins a day with a cat sitter. I think he’d be really chill on the flight, I just don’t know about being in a new environment. My mom also just got a new puppy, who is super friendly, calm, sweet, loves other people and dogs, but has not been around cats yet. Since I haven’t exposed my cat to dogs either, we aren’t sure how stressful this could be for either animal.
Just for some more background, the day I adopted my cat and brought him home, he was immediately making himself at home—exploring, tail up, happy, cuddling me. He is a very confident, adventurous, and curious guy so I really feel like he would be fine with the travel and new place, but I’m not sure if it would all be too much even for a cat as chill as he is. I just really want him to come with me because I can’t stand the thought of leaving him with someone else for a week. Any thoughts or suggestions or tips on prepping for the trip are appreciated! Thanks!
