My ~5-6 month old kitten got some very thick oil on its' face and head and into it's ears two or three times in the last 7 days. I believe it has been playing inside a nearby car.
I stupidly, for the last couple of days, used benzalkonium chloride based wet wipes (disinfectants) to wipe it off my cat and then dried that off with a dry cloth. I just Googled it and it is toxic to cats. My heart dropped. She vomited a few times and acted strange, I thought it was due to her recent vaccine last week, but today she came back to her normal self, even though the last application was earlier in the day. I immediately rinsed her in hot water and wiped her down thoroughly as soon as I read this.
I feel like absolute shit, I don't know why I acted so impulsively and didn't even think to consider the effect on my kitten. I have booked with a vet, but the earliest appointment is in exactly 48 hours from now.
As of right now, she is not exhibiting any strange behavior. Is it possible I did some permanent damage to her? I feel so so so so bad.
