Hi everyone, I’m just looking for some advice with the situation I’m in. I just adopted my beautiful girl Cheeto in December who is now 7 months old. I am currently living with 2 roommates one of which also has a cat and his name is Orange. They have bonded really well and are pretty much now a couple. We did not expect this to happen at he was known for not liking new cats at all. When we got Cheeto we got her for a trial period to make sure Orange would adjust to living with a new cat and be happy. We were surprised with the results! Cheeto was persistent with showing him love and now the two of them get along really well and love each other. I think this is mainly due to the fact that Cheeto likes other cats and she put in effort to make Orange like her. Well now four months later I have to move out and am at least for a little while going to be living alone with her. Also on top of this I have a new job that is going to have me away from home more. I’m now worried that Cheeto is going to be lonely. I am now thinking about getting another cat so she won’t be alone. My job will have me gone for a few days every couple weeks. I can have someone check on her once every day or two and I have a food dispenser and an electric water fountain for her so her food needs are met and I also have a litter robot (bless that machine) to keep her litter clean too. If I’m gone for extended periods of time I can leave her with my parents but they are two hours out of town and she isn’t 100% happy there as they have two dogs both cat friendly though. She really likes the one but not the other as he’s bigger. My parents take excellent care of her and the more she is there the more comfortable she gets with the dogs. She hated them both at first but now she likes the smaller one and rubs up on him all the time. So now I’m wondering if it would be a good idea or not to get another cat or if it would be irresponsible on my behalf. On one hand Cheeto will have a friend when I’m gone but on the other hand there will be two cats left home alone. I just want to do what’s best for her. If there is anyone who works away from home occasionally who has a cat who could get back to me that would be amazing! Thanks in advance for any advice!
