Disclaimer - even if the title says "resentment", I would do anything for her. I just want to love AND like her, not love her but dislike her.
So I have two cats - 1 male who is about 9 months old. We bonded so much because I was home with him most of last year, and he is generally an EXTREMELY cuddly cat.
But I started going to work 4 days a week and could see the loneliness take a toll on him (I used to play with him several times a day and it came down to just 1-2 times). So when I saw a sweet calico for adoption I got her at around 2 months.
They've bonded SO WELL. They're inseparable. She's now 3.5 months and follows him everywhere. My male kitty is still affectionate with me but I see how he's become much better during the day when I'm not home
Except the calico seems to just...not care about me. I play with her 1-2 times a day. She may begin to play with me but will eventually prefer the other cat. She runs away anytime I open the door or walk near her. She will only sleep on the bed with me when my other cat is cuddling next to me. She's purred with him and cuddles with him but I never get any of that. I know she's still a kitten but I genuinely wonder if she just hates me.
Is there anything I can do? I obviously don't spend as much time with the cats as I did during the pandemic, but I've tried giving her treats after she begrudgingly lets me pet her and stuff, but that's as far as we've gotten. I want her to like me in her own way - it's just that now I guess she tolerates my existence
