My cat is around 17 and has stage 3 kidney disease. As per vet recommendation, she is now on the K/D kidney diet and has been for about 9 months. The diet has stabilized the loss of kidney function but she typically has anywhere from soft stools to diarrhea and poops on the floor daily. Im pretty sure that the diarrhea discomfort is causing this behavior because in the past, I tried a turkey diet and she did the same thing. I tried a K/D diet a few years ago as well before she was diagnosed with CKD and the same happened...lose stools and poop outside of the box so I didn't switched over as a precaution. Now that she is in stage 3, I'm stuck in a hard spot because she has to be on a kidney friendly diet but there is a big lack of options. Im curious if anyone has dealt with a similar problem and if anything helped to stick with a CKD diet but keep the poops solid and in the box. Thanks!
