I'm in a sticky situation where I have a feral cat I've been caring for who has grown to become very affectionate towards me. She comes over every evening and spends hours cuddling/playing and is very comfy as a house cat while she's here, and then we let her out before bed and she goes out to explore all day in the woods before returning the following evening. We now have to move and are considering taking her with us, but we don't know what the right thing to do is. We are avid travelers and are gone most weekends, and we also plan to do monthlong stays in various locations when traveling is back to normal. So my questions are:
- Do we take this cat? Is it better to take her and give her a loving home, or leave her to the wild? She currently lives on 4 acres in Hawaii, and we're moving to Florida. (I know she'll be fed if we leave her, but not loved like she is by us)
- If we take her, is there any feasible way to have a cat while traveling often? I know house sitters and whatnot, but does anyone have experience of being a frequent traveler and having a cat?
We genuinely care for her and her wellbeing, but also want to be realistic with our lifestyle. Is there a way to have both?
