I’ve had my sweet Daisy since January. She literally walked right into my house. I located her original owner and found out that she ran away because she didn’t get along with the other kitty in the house over there. I agreed to keep her because I fell in love with her.
Fast forward to now, I’m having to rehome her because I moved in with my partner who is severely allergic. I’m talking full-blown asthma attacks and constantly feeling like he has a cold. He’s miserable. He downplayed how bad his cat allergies really were because he wanted to make it work for me and Daisy. He gave it his best shot, but it just didn’t work.
I’m going to start looking for a new home by contacting the original owner that I found her from. If that’s a no-go, then I guess I’ll keep looking. But I’m absolutely heartbroken. I wanted it to work for all of us. He wanted it to work. He loves her as much as I do. I’m a huge cat lover, so coming to terms with not having a cat at home for his sake is hard for me.
I feel so guilty. Some support or virtual hugs would be nice. Please, don’t give suggestions for allergies. We’ve tried everything short of the shots, and those aren’t financially within reach for us. Also, please spare the guilt trips about how “pets are forever”. We know. We wanted it to be forever. We want nothing less than the best for our sweet kitty.
