Hi all. Our 1 y/o kitten, Peaches, has recently taken to meowing relentlessly at our closed bedroom door in the early morning hours until we let her in. Sometimes she’ll stop only to resume doing so an hour later.
We think that this behavior is thanks to the vet visit she had about a month ago. She had been in her carrier for probably close to 10 hours while she waited to get fixed (the vet was super backed up that day and she ended up being left there longer than we anticipated, poor thing). Now she has some sort of separation anxiety. We can even hear her start to cry when we leave the apartment.
We let her sleep with us and be in the room, but she ends up getting hyper and knocking things off the shelves and attacking our feet while we’re trying to sleep. We end up throwing her out because she won’t let us sleep!
How can we curb this behavior? I don’t want Peaches in our room all night because she keeps us up with her antics. Can’t install a cat door because we rent and can’t damage the door.
