my cat has ringworm

today we took my cat to the vet to get her checked out, and it turns out that she has ringworm. she's only been with us for about a week and a half since we adopted her from the shelter, so this did come as a surprise. we don't have any other pets/have had any pets in the house ever, so i'm feeling very scared and unsure what to make of the situation. i would really appreciate some reassurance since my family situation is a little tumultuous at the moment, and on top of juggling that situation, now i have to consider caring for my cat.

of course we have her medication and such, but the vet didn't tell us what to do with them. there's an oral dose of medication & also the formula for a lime bath, which i've searched the instructions for. we don't have young children to worry about in the house along w the cat, which is good.

either way, i was wondering if people had any tips or things to watch out for, or would be willing to let me know what their experiences have been w ringworm in general. is it difficult to get rid of? will this last forever (aka the fungus remaining in the home and whatnot)? is this a really serious illness? please let me know! thank you so much in advance.
